Emotion Recognition Music Player
As part of our group assignment for the Sound Communication course in our master’s program, we designed an Emotion Recognition Music Player to support emotional learning in children with autism. This device uses facial expression recognition to detect crying or laughing. It then plays a corresponding sound—crying or laughter—alongside matching emoji faces. For example, when it detects a crying face, it plays a crying sound with sad emojis; when it detects laughter, it responds with a laughter sound and happy emojis. By combining sound and visuals, our design offers a fun and interactive way to help children with autism recognize and understand basic emotions.
